These are the first official pictures of the new Astra Sports Tourer, which will receive its debut at this year's Paris Motor Show in September and hit UK showrooms by the end of the year. The Sports Tourer will be the second model to join the new Astra range, which has now sold over 28,000 units in the UK (to end of May) since its launch last December, and has helped the Astra become Britain's best-selling retail range in the first five months of this year.

Brandish Chevrolet offering a minimum of £2,000 for any six to 10-year old car.

The government scrappage scheme may be over, but that doesn’t mean Chevrolet customers will miss out, thanks to a new incentive at Brandish Chevrolet.

Chevrolet is well known for offering great cars at great value prices, but the new ‘Switch and Save’ promotion, which runs until June 30th, will see customers offered at least £2,000 for their old cars, as long as the vehicle is aged between six and 10 years old and they have owned it since before January 1st 2010.

The offer is available on Chevrolet models such as the five-star Euro NCAP Cruze family saloon and the stylish Captiva SUV and in fact on any other model in the Chevrolet family other than the Spark or Matiz.

“We want to show our customers that even though the scrappage scheme has ended, Chevrolet cars still offer enormous value for money,” said Dan Pierce Group Sales Manager from Brandish Chevrolet

Championship as a factory driver this season as Chevrolet UK confirmed it will enter a two-car team in the series. Former champion Plato and 19-year-old newcomer Alex MacDowall
will handle the two RML Ltd-run Chevrolet Cruze machines, similar
to those used in the World Touring. Car Championship. Honda has also confirmed this week that it will rejoin the series as a works outfit (see sidebar) by backing the Team Dynamics Honda Civics. That means this year’s provisional BTCC entry list features 23 cars– which is more than in 2009. Plato, who joined the BTCC in
1997, is just seven victories shy of Andy Rouse’s all-time 60 outright wins record in the BTCC. “I wasn’t aware of the overall wins record.

Luton - After 30 years, nearly three million UK sales and six generations, Vauxhall's Astra can now lay claim to be one of the Britain's best loved cars, accounting for almost one in 20 of all vehicles currently registered in the UK*.

Officially, Britain's best selling UK-built car, the latest Mk6 Astra, launched last December, is already selling ahead of projections and has been instrumental in securing production of future models at Ellesmere Port, Vauxhall's main manufacturing plant in the Northwest of England.

Since the first Astra rolled out of a UK dealership in February 1980, over 2.8 million Astras have found UK homes. It's been this popularity which has helped make Britain the lead market in Europe for the Astra, accounting for 25 per cent of all its sales.

From when the first Astra went on sale, it rapidly gained a reputation for adopting the latest technology and innovation. The Astra Mk1 was Vauxhall's first car to incorporate both front-wheel-drive and a transverse engine layout, and also the first Vauxhall to be offered with a diesel engine in 1982.

It also gained a great image as a drivers' car, spawning the iconic GTE, as well as the later GSi (Mks 3 & 4) and VXR (Mk5), many of which formed the basis for heroic motorsport campaigns in both international rallying and the British Touring Car Championship.

Moving on three decades and the 2010 Astra Mk6 carries the mantle from its predecessors with pride. A driver's car through and through, it features a clever Watt's linkage/compound crank rear suspension design and unique-in-class nine-beam AFL lighting system, highlights which illustrate Vauxhall's continued passion for innovation and bringing new technology to a wider audience.

One thing's for sure, few cars on sale in the UK today have captured the hearts of so many British buyers like the Astra.
